Hello! First off - I appreciate your flexibility and adaptability. Your willingness to get creative and figure out how to create space for yourself during a time of crisis will undoubtedly serve you well during this very unknown time. I look forward to the opportunity to connect and possibility of working together!
What can I expect from telehealth?
For many, therapy is new and unknown and telehealth is even more new! During a time with so much unknown, how brave of you for exploring the option! Research indicates that telehealth has been proven to be just as effective as in person therapy. We will meet for 50 minute sessions through a secure video platform, Simple Practice Telehealth or through Facetime (your choice).
What equipment do I need?
A phone, laptop or tablet with either the downloaded free Simple Practice Telehealth app or Facetime. Headphones are ideal to ensure as much privacy as possible. If possible to connect through WIFI or ethernet cord, that is generally helpful for best connection and least interruption. Closing other applications running on your device is also recommended.
I have no privacy; where am I supposed to do these meetings?
Clients are getting quite clever and have actually shared some of their best practices. Some choose to sit in the car in the driveway to have some privacy, others may drive to a park or beach, walk somewhere away from everyone and sit there. Some parents have used their closets, backyards, garages to have some quiet space.
What paperwork is required to get started?
After you schedule an appointment, you will receive a link to my online therapy practice portal requesting completion of intake paperwork, practice policies, informed consent and a few diagnostic questionnaires. You will also receive an informed consent for telehealth outlining specific details pertaining to this work (what to do if technical difficulties, what to do in emergency, etc) as well as an in case of emergency form with a local contact and plan outlined in case there is a crisis during our meeting.
I still have questions; where can I learn more?
Simple practice has a great article for clients considering telehealth, please check it out at https://support.simplepractice.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003183011-Telehealth-FAQs-for-clients. I'm happy to chat by phone and answer your questions., reach out.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance, however services may be covered in part by your health insurance for out of network providers. If you have a covered diagnosis I can provide a super bill so that you can seek negotiated reimbursement from your provider. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
-
Do I have mental health insurance benefits for an out of network provider?
-
What is my deductible and has it been met?
-
How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
-
What would I be reimbursed per therapy session?
What is your fee & how do I handle payment?
My fee is $185 for a 50 minute therapy session and $275 for an 80 minute therapy session. Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment. You will have a card on file in the event you want me to process that card automatically, forget cash/check, or need to be charged for a no show.
Can I schedule online?
Request a therapy appointment online; currently online tele-health appointments are available. As the climate changes when it is safe to come to the office, availability will be updated regularly for Newport Beach and Orange office locations.
